Lab test reports for our products are available & usually furnished as part of the submittal certification process.
It is very rare that our regular NW CMU does not exceed High Strength CMU PSI requirements of 2700 PSI.
Central Arizona Block Co, Inc. manufactures its products to meet or exceed applicable standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). These standards define characteristics of strength, tolerances, and quality. All hollow and solid CMU does comply with:
ASTM C90 Standard Specification for Load bearing Concrete Masonry Units, which has strength requirements for an average and individual units, face shell and web thickness minimums, max variation off of ideal sizing of 1/8" and a maximum absorption.
CMU compressive strength is the psi calculated from the net area of the individual unit. The minimum average net compressive strength per ASTM C90, as of the 2014 edition, is 2000 net psi avg and a minimum of 1800 psi, for any single unit. Independent lab testing has always had us significantly higher than these requirements. Copies of Lab reports available upon request.
NOTE: beginning in 2000, ASTM C90 no longer contained Grade or Type designations. Therefore, specifications calling for Grade N, Type I (or Grade N-I), "moisture-controlled" units are no longer valid.
